Leadership - The Science and Art of Influencing Others

The definition of today's leader is one who exerts influence in order to achieve the objectives of the team or organization. A true leader is a servant leader - serving his team and the organization in order to produce desirable outcomes.

The modern leader incubates passion around vision, mission, purpose and measurable goals. S/he runs ahead of the team to clear the obstacles for the team, provides opportunities for personal growth of team members, provides guidance where necessary and steps out of the way to allow the team to shine. As Lao-Tse wrote:

If you are a good leader,
Who talks little,
They will say,
When your work is done,
And your aim fulfilled,
"We did it ourselves."

Today's servant leader strives to make the organization the:
- investment of choice
- employer of choice
- provider of choice.
